Train Smarter, Not Harder

The Harding Medical Institute’s Athletic Medicine Program offers athletes, from professionals to weekend warriors, scientifically quantifiable measurements that are essential towards obtaining the ultimate level of athletic performance, while reducing the risk for injury.  For today’s elite athletes, proper conditioning and maintenance of the body requires more than exercise and nutrition.   The Athletic Medicine Program is designed to provide a complete understanding of an athlete’s body blueprint, peak metabolic performance, exercise endurance, and cellular/hormonal levels.

During the Athletic Medicine Program the Harding Medical Institute creates a personalized performance program for each client, beginning with a comprehensive evaluation of their health that utilizes advanced blood work and diagnostic testing. This key baseline testing establishes the groundwork necessary for optimal performance.  Next the Harding Medical Institute’s Athletic Medicine Program utilizes scientific testing to analyze the current physical performance of an athlete from metabolic rates to body mass imbalances.  This combination of testing and analyzing allows for a complex action plan to be created that amplify the athletes objectives.

Measurements For Optimal Results:

The Harding Medical Institutes’s Athletic Medicine Program are based on specialized testing and precise measurements, to provide the best information about your metabolism, exercise endurance, and body composition, so you can efficiently train smarter.  In the past these measurements have only been available to elite athletes by using cumbersome, expensive equipment, and were generally only available at hospitals and research centers.

MetaCheck:

The MetaCheck™ provides an accurate, professional metabolic rate measurement.   Measuring your metabolic rate allows for our physicians to construct an effective fitness plan based on your individual caloric needs. As a result, our physicians are able to give you a specific calorie count to achieve your body composition goals based on your metabolism. This provides a scientific method for your body to burn calories and achieve goals rapidly.

Resting Metabolic Rate

The resting metabolic rate provides the amount of energy expressed in calories that a person needs to keep the body functioning at rest. Some of those processes are breathing, blood circulation, controlling body temperature, cell growth, brain and nerve function, and contraction of muscles. Resting metabolic rate (RMR) affects the rate that a person burns calories and ultimately whether that individual maintains, gains, or loses weight.

BMI- Body Mass Index

This is a measure of body fat based on height and weight for adult women.

CardioCoach CO2™ : Train Smarter, Not Harder

The CardioCoach CO2™ Testing is the new scientific way to work out. It provides important data, which our physicians use to customize an individual’s exercise prescription.

Advanced V02 Exercise Assessments & VO2 Max

A VO2 test measures the amount of oxygen your body uses at different heart rate levels as you exercise. This is done as you breathe through a mask during an exercise evaluation and your caloric burn is measured. The recorded information is then used by our physicians to calculate your personal heart rate Target Intensity Zones.  These specific heart rate zones will give you the specific target heart rates required for each level of exercise intensity. Exercising within your target heart rate zones will get you the results that will amaze you. Target Intensity Zones will maximize your workout with fewer injuries, less fatigue, less pain and result in rapid results.*

DEXA Densitometry

The DEXA test allows our physicians to analyze your risk for developing bone fractures. The risk of fracture is affected by age, body weight, history of prior fracture, family history of osteoporotic fractures and life style issues such as cigarette smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. These factors are taken into consideration when deciding the workout program or if specific supplementation for bone health should be taken to minimize risk factors.

Total Body Composition Scans

The total body scan gives accurate bone density, lean muscle mass and body fat percentiles. Our physicians will use this information to design a comprehensive workout program for you to achieve your short-term and long-term fitness and health goals.
