Hysterectomy

A total hysterectomy can be one of the most difficult challenges both physically and mentally.  At the Harding Medical Institute we understand the dramatic changes this can have on a women’s life and also the immediate hormonal imbalances that are caused. Normally a woman progresses through the natural stages of life where the body has the opportunity to adjust to diminished levels of estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, pregnenolone, DHEA, melatonin, thyroid, and cortisol levels. Unfortunately, with a total hysterectomy and removal of the hormone producing ovaries, a woman is forced to immediately deal with the symptoms of menopause caused by low to nonexistent hormonal levels.

Symptoms Of A Hysterectomy:

As with menopause, women can experience a wide range of symptoms following a hysterectomy.  Estrogen and Progesterone directly influence many other hormones in the body and any imbalance can have a dramatic effect on how we feel and perform. Sometimes women who have a partial hysterectomy find that they quickly progress to full menopause which can increase the symptoms.

Menopause Symptoms include:

  • Hot Flashes
  • Weight Gain
  • Irritability
  • Anxiety
  • Fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Headaches
  • Hair Loss
  • Diminished Libido
  • Dry Eyes
  • Vaginal Dryness
  • Mood Swings
  • Memory Loss

The Symptoms Of A Hysterectomy Can Be Treated:

At the Harding Medical Institute Dr. Deborah Harding has worked with numerous women following partial and complete hysterectomies.  By using bioidentical hormone replacement therapy the extreme symptoms of menopause can be drastically reduced or eliminated.  We have found that by bringing the hormone levels back into balance with hormone supplements, that womon following hysterecomies can start to regain their health and become more vibrant, more alive and more motivated to live life to it’s fullest.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Protocol

For some of our patients we have the ability to measure hormone levels before a scheduled hysterecomy.  This provides a definitive hormone level that we can actively work towards rebalancing.  For our patients that come in after a hysterecomy and are experiencing the signs of menopause without definitive hormone levels we have established a protocol for optimizing Bioidentical hormone replacement.  We do this by first measuring your hormone levels during our Elite Physical For Women With Comprehensive Hormone Panel and spend the day to fully understand all of your medical background and goals.  Then our specially trained physicians will create a customized protocol treatment and lifestyle plan for you. This allows for relief from the undesirable symptoms of hormonal imbalance.*
